About Plant Security

Since 9/11, the Board of Supervisors of the District has taken their task of protecting the District's Water Supply very seriously. Within an hour of the disaster at the World Trade Center and Pentagon, the gates entering our facility were closed to the public and they remain closed to this day.

Additional improvements have been made to secure the water plant site from intrusion and the Board adopted a budget for electronic security in FY 2002-2003. These funds were appropriated in the budget for the year without necessitating a rate increase in your monthly water and sewer bill. Funds received due to the implementation of conservation rates several years ago were appropriated for this purpose. Remaining funds received from conservation rates are used for ongoing renewal & replacement and capital improvements to the system.
